Kiedy narodziła się w Tobie pasja śpiewania?
Bardzo wcześnie odkryłam, że muzyka jest moją życiową drogą. W wieku 14 lat pojechałam na pierwszą lekcję śpiewu. I to właśnie śpiew jest moją największą pasją.
Brałaś udział w jakichś konkursach?
Było „Must Be the Music”. A w tym roku wzięliśmy wraz z moim triem udział w festiwalu Carpathia i udało nam się zdobyć pierwszą nagrodę. Występowałaś z grupą The Pussycat Dolls, opowiedz o swojej drodze muzycznej ze Śląska do amerykańskiego zespołu. Pojechałam do mojej przyjaciółki Beaty, która studiowała w Los Angeles. Pod koniec pobytu odwiedziłyśmy Las Vegas. Dla zabawy zaśpiewałam w klubie karaoke. Okazało się, że mój występ spodobał się
Emily, tancerce z grupy Matta Gossa. Poprosiła, żebym po powrocie do Polski wysłała jej demo, a ona przekaże je Robin Antin, choreografce i założycielce The Pussycat Dolls. Tak też zrobiłam. Trzy tygodnie później byłam już w Vegas. Po przesłuchaniach u Robin, za kilka dni, śpiewałam z The Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Review w klubie Johnny’ego Deppa. Występowałaś obok Kelly Osbourne i Carmen Electry.
Wydawało się, że Twoja kariera się rozwija, dlaczego zdecydowałaś się wrócić do Polski?
To, co się wydarzyło w Stanach, wydawało mi się takie niesamowite, cudowne i surrealistyczne. Jednak będąc tam dłużej, zaczęłam tęsknić za domem, za rodziną, za moim światem. Pomyślałam, że może tam nie pasuję, skoro targają mną takie emocje, i zdecydowałam się wrócić, a później nie było już szansy ponownego wyjazdu. Ale nie żałuję, myślę, że nic nie dzieje się bez przyczyny. Wierzę w przeznaczenie.
Wystąpiłaś w światowej prapremierze musicalu Król Lear Pawła Mykietyna, na festiwalu Sacrum
Profanum w Krakowie. Taka rola, oprócz zdolności wokalnych, wymaga także gry aktorskiej, jak się w tym odnalazłaś?
Do tego typu roli trzeba się solidnie przygotowywać. Jest to zupełnie inna muzyczna bajka niż ta, w której funkcjonuję na co dzień. W musicalu zagrałam rolę najmłodszej córki króla Leara, Kordelii, mówiłam i śpiewałam po hiszpańsku, mimo że nie znam tego języka. Bardzo się stresowałam, ale kiedy okazało się, że kompozytorowi i publiczności się podobało, byłam zadowolona i dumna, bo włożyłam w przygotowania ogromną pracę.
Twoja nowa płyta nosi tytuł INSPINATION, co t oznacza? Czy to jakaś kombinacja słów?
Tytuł płyty to połączenie dwóch słów: inspiration i nation. Bardzo bym chciała, żeby nasze pokolenie wzajemnie się inspirowało i wspierało.
A co Ciebie inspirowało i skąd czerpałaś pomysły do stworzenia tej płyty?
Inspiruje mnie otaczająca rzeczywistość, świat i ludzie, z którymi się spotykam. Jeżeli chodzi o wokalistów, chętnie słucham Fantasii Barrino, uwielbiam także Beyoncé i wielu innych…
W programie „Must Be the Music” śpiewałaś piosenkę Natural Woman Arethy Franklin. Mogłoby to sugerować, że lubisz muzykę soulową, okazuje się jednak, że gustujesz w elektronicznych brzmieniach, których sporo jest na nowej płycie. Opowiedz coś więcej o procesie tworzenia tej płyty…
Nie zamykam się na jeden gatunek. W naszej muzyce różne światy łączą się ze sobą. Myślę, że w tych utworach słychać moją soulową duszę. Piosenki tworzyłam z moim bratem Mateuszem i Essexem. W każdej z nich jest cząstka
mnie, ale bez Mateusza ta płyta by nie powstała. On jest najlepszym doradcą, wymyślił wiele kompozycji, ja tworzyłam melodie i większość tekstów.
W Twoim teledysku Pryzmat wystąpiła blogerka modowa Maffashion, jak doszło do tej współpracy?
Maffashion to dziewczyna, która z pomysłem na siebie stworzyła „markę” znaną w całej Polsce. Oprócz tego jest
bardzo ładna, świetnie się ubiera, jest niezwykle popularna, ma wielu obserwatorów na swoich profilach. Wcześniej nie znałyśmy się osobiście, ale pomyślałam, że byłaby idealna do udziału w moim teledysku. Tekst mówi o pielęgnowaniu w sobie indywidualności. Chciałam też z pozytywnym przekazem tekstu piosenki Pryzmat dotrzeć do większego grona młodych ludzi.
Większość utworów na płycie jest po angielsku. Dlaczego?
Wolę śpiewać po angielsku. Ten język towarzyszy mi od najmłodszych lat, jest dla mnie „naturalny”. W dzisiejszych
czasach jest uniwersalny. Na całym świecie artyści śpiewają po angielsku. W operze króluje język włoski lub niemiecki, a w rozrywce angielski. Co myślisz o programach typu „Must Be the Music”?
Czujesz, że dzięki występom w tym programie zdobyłaś popularność?
W zasadzie nie wiem, uważam, że taki występ na pewno nie szkodzi, jeśli jest pozytywnie odebrany. Całe szczęście tak było w moim przypadku. Ale zdarza się, że jakiś świetny wokalista ma zły dzień i może zostać skreślony na resztę życia. Głos jest bardzo delikatnym instrumentem. Ja miałam szczęście, program dał mi rozpoznawalność, ale czy pomógł w wydaniu płyty? Hmm… sama nie wiem.
Jakie są Twoje najbliższe plany zawodowe?
Teraz głównie promocja płyty. Od nowego roku planujemy trasę koncertową. Byłoby świetnie, gdyby na nasze koncerty przychodziło coraz więcej osób.
